About Student & Campus Life

Student & Campus Life (SCL) supports students and the Cornell community by promoting educational excellence, public engagement, and personal success through a wide range of programs and services. With nearly 4,000 staff and student employees, SCL is home to the offices of Cornell Health, Campus and Community Engagement, Dean of Students, Athletics and Physical Education, Campus Life Enterprise Services, Cornell Career Services, and the David M. Einhorn Center for Community Engagement. The heads of these departments report to the Vice President for Student & Campus Life, engage students directly, and serve as campus experts on pressing student affairs matters such as physical and mental health and well-being, disability support, diversity and inclusion, the residential and community experience, athletics and physical education, and post-graduate opportunities.

If so, we invite you to join our Alumni Affairs and Development (AAD) team in Student and Campus Life (SCL) and Athletics & Physical Education at Cornell University as an Administrative Assistant.

In this role, you will be a key player in our mission to engage thousands of alumni, families, and friends, and to help raise over $30 million annually to support Cornell students and programs that enhance their experience. Reporting to the Executive Director of Alumni Affairs and Development for SCL and Athletics, you will provide critical program support for all engagement activities and communications. Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Operations and Office Support: Manage team operations including scheduling, training coordination, and communication. Support team meetings by preparing agendas, taking notes, and tracking follow-up actions. Provide comprehensive office support, including complex calendar management and scheduling, travel arrangements, purchasing, and expense management.
  • Event Coordination: Lead and assist in the planning and execution of SCL and Athletics AAD events, including volunteer sport associations and boards. Handle logistics such as venue reservation, event registration, communication, and on-site support, occasionally during evenings or weekends.
  • Engagement Data and Communication Management: Maintain and update engagement data in PeopleSoft, manage communications through email platforms, and curate web content. Serve as the primary contact for the SCL and Athletics AAD inboxes, handling inquiries and escalating issues as needed.
  • Volunteer Committee Support: Assist in managing volunteer committees and special events such as the Hall of Fame Dinner and AAAC meetings. Coordinate tasks and projects for work-study students.
  • Professional Development: Continuously seek out training opportunities to enhance your skills and stay current with emerging technologies relevant to your role. Contribute to team meetings and departmental projects, sharing ideas to further our goals.

  • Associates degree and 2 to 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of relevant education & experience.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • Experience working with budgets.
  • Knowledge of Alumni Affairs and Development informational systems.
  • Experience working in event planning, fundraising, program development, or related field.
