Job Description
CNC Operator
CNC Operator will be trained to produce the custom prosthetic products, utilizing 5 Axis milling machines. Additional training will likely include: working with Stereo lithography (SLA), 3D printing machines and other equipment.
The job will be responsible for CNC milling and regular manufacturing machinery as well as cleaning the equipment and first level maintenance. The products being manufactured are a variety of restorative dental products utilizing manual and automated inspection equipment along with visual inspection using a microscope.
Keys to success: - Follow all Standard Operating Procedures for the company’s products while using the 5 axis milling machines and SLA 3D machines.
- Observe machine operation to verify accuracy of machine settings and to detect malfunctions.
- Inspect work pieces throughout the production run and perform visual in-process QC. Report all results to quality assurance, as needed.
- Install and adjust milling tools, perform regular calibration of the machines and change operation to different products according to defined Standard Operation Procedures.
- Perform daily, weekly & monthly maintenance of machines according to preventative maintenance plans and procedures to maintain equipment in optimal production condition.
- Act as troubleshooter on 1st level manufacturing and machine issues.
- Operate all secondary equipment as required within product line or manufacturing cell (Parts washer, microscope, batch ovens, coordinate measuring machine - CMM- , rotary tools, micrometer, etc.)
- Work in conjunction with other manufacturing departments such as CAM, manufacturing engineers, Production Supervisors and Team Leads on solving problems in production as well as continuous improvement of workflow and procedures.
- Work as part of a team to improve manufacturing processes through Kaizen.
- Prepare necessary packaging as needed.
- Qualify all products produced according to Quality and Product Specifications / Requirements.
- Inspects and tests during in-process operations in accordance with established in-process inspection requirements.
- Performs end product final inspection and releases conforming product to the shipping department for distribution to customers.
Required: - GED, HS diploma or equivalent work experience.
- Certificate courses on CNC-Programming and/or CAD/CAM is preferred.
- Minimum two or more years of CNC machining experience on milling machines controlled by Fanuc, Heidenhain, and Roeders preferred.
- Experience in high precision production (die making), pharmaceutical production, medical device, aerospace or automotive industry preferred.
- Basic knowledge in programming code (Fanuc and/or Heidenhain) and CAD/CAM (Open Mind, Delcam) preferred.
- Capable of PC-standard software (MS-Office). Basic knowledge of SAP preferred.
- Good analytical and communication skills. Practitioner when action is required to solve problems with the machines.
- Critical Skills/technical know-how: (what the role holder must be able to do).
- Must be able to stand, walk and bend for 8 hours during work time
- Must be able to see through and operate a microscope
