Job Description
General Description: As the Production Manager you will be responsible for the production functions of your site, which includes helping to achieve all Safety, Quality, Customer Satisfaction, and Productivity metrics. You are also responsible for initiating, implementing, completing, and evaluating continuous improvement projects and ensuring all required reports are completed. You will collaborate with the Safety Coordinator, guided by visual factory management, to ensure safe operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Manage the production functions of the site and ensure consistency across all shifts.
- Ensure quality product is produced in a safe, consistent, and timely way to exceed customer expectations.
- Review and sign off on all Running Quality Checklists.
- To oversee all press approvals and trials.
- Facilitate color standard and measurements processes.
- To participate in the daily Production and Quality meetings by communicating and enforcing the outcomes of these meetings to the production employees and reporting to the Plant Manager any reasons of concern.
- To participate in all New Label and Go/No Go Meetings by providing insight and expertise and report to the Plant Manager and reason of concern.
- Manage and develop direct reports by communicating job expectations, monitoring and appraising job results, coaching, training and disciplining, as necessary.
- Lead direct reports on the creation, implementation and ongoing monitoring of manufacturing plans, goals, and continuous improvement projects.
- Coordinate with direct reports to enforce systems, policies, and procedures.
- Manage the workflow by utilizing the company’s ERP system to extract and analyze relevant data to drive improvement of operational metrics. This includes Radius reports, end of shift reports, etc.
- Incorporate lean principles to implement, and continuously improve production processes and procedures. This entails a specific focus on key metrics, including material waste, setup time, equipment speeds, labor variance, material variance, quality metrics, and on-time delivery.
- Maintain production staffing by leading the weekly staffing review and making recommendations to the Plant Manager for any internal position changes needed, which will include developing internal growth opportunities.
- Facilitate a training matrix to ensure that production employees are cross trained to have multi-functional skills to maintain business continuity. Maintain compliance with all required annual training renewals.
- Assist in managing capital projects, including but not limited to, equipment installs and relocations on an ongoing, as needed basis.
- Facilitate a monthly review of the production cost centers and complete countermeasures of any category over budget. Ensure that, as the company grows, manufacturing capabilities meet or exceed all industry and customer requirements for cost, quality, productivity, efficiency and responsiveness.
- Oversee the creation of corrective action responses, proper use of defect detection systems, and the color management processes across all shifts.
- Maintain Quality by implementing and enforcing organizational standards.
- Maintain safe work environment by assisting and enforcing in the implementation of safety practices.
- Foster an open-door environment and solutions-based team approach within and between departments and shifts.
- Additional duties as required.
Requirements: Education and Experience:
- College Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related discipline preferred.
- 7-10 years’ experience in a mid to large-size flexographic print manufacturer is required, with a t least 3 of those years held in a supervisory position.
- Proven record of leading manufacturing teams to meet or exceed company goals.
- Lean / Six Sigma experience is preferred.

- Knowledge of EFI Radius is preferred, other manufacturing ERP systems is a plu s.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft office suite (including Microsoft Excel and Outlook).
- Comfortable with data driven management and data tools and analysis.
- Expert knowledge of flexographic printing processes is required. Additional digital press experience preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to relate mechanical and technical concepts in non-technical language is required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Direct supervision of the 1 st shift Production Employees, Scheduler, Production Supervisor(s) and Maintenance
- Indirect supervision of off-shift production teams (press operators, rewinders, press helpers, etc.)
