Job Description

Primary responsibility is to build, optimize, test and debug data science transformations and models for the establishment, maintenance and monitoring of Quality Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and reporting on the performance of various sites across Olympus. Responsible for collecting and processing global Quality data and using data visualization tools and techniques to build models as inputs to high-level business decisions. Applies mathematical, problem-solving, and coding skills to manage global data and provide methods to extract valuable insights. Designs tailor-made solutions from data, aiding the global Quality organization in achieving objectives and goals. Ensures user adoption and identifies and manages continuous improvement efforts.

Job Duties

  • Identify valuable data sources and automate collection processes for Quality KPIs
  • Undertake preprocessing of structured and unstructured data
  • Present information using data visualization techniques
  • Propose solutions and strategies to business challenges
  • Perform data management tasks, such as conduct data profiling, assess data quality, and write queries (e.g. SQL) to extract and integrate data
  • Develop efficient global data collection systems and sound strategies for getting quality data from different sources across Olympus
  • Work with stakeholders throughout the global organization to identify opportunities for leveraging global Quality data to drive actionable insights.
  • Mine and analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of Quality Management System(s).
  • Consume and analyze data from data pool to support inference, prediction, and recommendation of actionable insights to support business needs
  • Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new global data sources and data gathering techniques.
  • Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.
  • Support development of processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • A minimum of a 4-year college degree (Bachelor’s Degree) in engineering, statistics, or equivalent in a technical or data-related field is required
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in a medical device, pharma, or other regulated industry
  • Minimum of 3 years experience with business intelligence tools and techniques
  • Minimum of 3 years applying basic statistical analysis
  • Minimum of 3 years with writing database queries (e.g. MySQL, Postgres, etc.)
  • In this Global role, the individual will be expected to schedule meetings that work for multiple time zones and up to 10% travel should be expected. The individual will be working with all regions where Olympus operates.


Preferred:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience with R, SQL and Python; familiarity with Scala, Java or C++ is an asset
  • Competent with Microsoft Office 365 Suite, Visio, Adobe, DocuSign, Agile and Windows platforms
  • Working experience with 21 CFR 820 and ISO 13485 and other applicable regulations
  • Ability to collect and synthesize data
  • Ability to collaborate, develop strong working relationships, and demonstrate leadership and project management capabilities within a matrixed organization environment
  • Bias for action, impeccable organizational skills, critical thinking, solutions-oriented, attentive to detail
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills

The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position working at this location is $75,624.00 - $102,092.00 / year, plus potential for annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements). Olympus considers a variety of factors when determining actual compensation for this position including: level of experience, working location, and relevant education and certifications.
