Job Description
Overview Cordoba Corporation is a leading engineering and design firm based in California. We are seeking a Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to join our Energy - Gas sector. The SSHO will perform safety and occupational health management, surveillance, inspections, and safety enforcement of subcontractors. This role will manage and implement the Accident Prevention Program (APP) requirements, Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) documentation and Safety Plan as necessary to maintain a safe work environment.
Responsibilities - Manage the overall site safety, related APP requirements and AHA documentation.
- Ensure employees remain out of established construction zones or use proper PPE if they are required to be in proximity of the construction zone.
- Notify representatives or superintendents of any hazardous working conditions at the site that may impact the contractor, advise on complaints of unsafe practices being performed by the contractor, and maintain injury and incident reporting.
- Conduct routine monitoring of the construction activities and site safety inspections daily, perform observations and discussions with contractor's personnel, and document deficiencies identified on the Construction Quality Control (CQC) Report according to the CQC Plan.
- Lead daily safety briefings to review AHAs applicable to the daily activities, unique site conditions, hospital route, personal protective equipment (PPE), and stop work authority.
- Monitor compliance to all current OSHA requirements that relate to the specific construction projects.
- Perform pre-task safety and health analysis as documented under the Health Hazard Control Program.
- Facilitate competent person training as needed.
Qualifications - 5+ years of experience managing construction safety work is required
- 5+ years field experience as Construction Safety Consultant working with general contractors and subcontractors is required
- EM-385-1-1 training certification is required
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) certification is required
- Completion of 30-hour OSHA construction safety class or equivalent within the last 5 years is required
- An average of at least 24 hours of formal life safety first aid and CPR training each year for the past 5 years is required
- Ability to communicate mission, objectives and safety philosophy in decision making and supervising the work of others
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
- Good problem-solving, decision-making, communication, analytical and human relations skills required
- Advanced written and verbal English language communication skills
- High level of personal integrity and a strong work ethic
Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000 per year
Work Location: On-site at the Ventura, CA project location
Visa Sponsorship: Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S.A. on a full-time basis without sponsorship
