Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician 

  Job Summary:  Sterile Processing Technologists (SPTs) are essential members of the healthcare team, responsible for ensuring the safety of surgical instruments and other materials. Level I SPTs are entry-level positions, but incumbents are expected to learn the full range of duties and responsibilities quickly. Level III SPTs must be certified and have extensive experience. Actively and consistently contributes to department operations and communications, behaves in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Pipeline Health, upholding standards of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you) patient communication.

Experience:

•   Level I: One (1) year of experience in a surgical setting, preferred.
• Level II: Two (2) years of experience in a surgical unit, Sterile Processing, or Central Supply department preferred.
• Level III: At least five (5) years of experience in a Sterile Processing or Central Supply environment required.
• Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, strong organizational skills, ability to follow verbal instructions, and PC (computer) skills.
• A capacity to learn, synthesize, make critical judgments, work independently, place patients and families first, and collaborate with the team members who are recognized leaders within health care.

Education:

•   N/A

Licensure/Certifications:

• Level II: SPD preferred.
• Level III: CS certification required.
• Level I, II, III: BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from AHA (American Heart Association) required.
